If you don't have Internet access via broadband you can sometimes use a mobile phone's data plan. Using another phone or device to access the Internet is called tethering or a Wi-Fi Hotspot, and below are some intructions to guide you.



Warning! Using your phone as a Wi-Fi hot spot, if supported by your carrier, could eat up a lot of data. If you don't have an unlimited data plan, it is a good idea to keep an eye on exactly how much you are using. Remember to turn it off when you're finished.

How to create a Wi-Fi Hotspot on Android:

Option A

1. Open the Settings app
2. Press the Network & Internet option (or Connections)
3. Press the hot spot & tethering option
4. Toggle the switch next to Wi-Fi hot spot to on
5. Tap Set up Wi-Fi hot spot to manage name and password settings for your hot spot.

Option B

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to the very bottom of the screen (Note: you may need to do this a few times to see all options)
2. An option for a Mobile Hostpot should appear. If not swipe right to view it
3. Tap the Mobile Hostpot option text
4. Toggle the switch next to Wi-Fi Hotspot to on
5. The name of the Hotspot and password will be shown

Connect to Wi-Fi Hotspot

The new wireless signal from the Hotspot should automatically appear. Tap on it, enter the password given above, and the device should connect. If this does not happen follow the instructions below.

Option A

1. Open the Settings app
2. Press the Network & Internet option (or Connections)
3. Press the wireless options button
4. A list of wireless networks will be shown. Tap on the correct Hotspot name and enter the password given above to connect.

Option B

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to the very bottom of the screen (Note: you may need to do this a few times to see all options)
2. Tap the wireless connections icon
3. A list of wireless networks will be shown. Tap on the correct Hotspot name and enter the password given above to connect.

REMEMBER! Disconnect from the Hotspot and turn the Hotspot off once finished otherwise data will be wasted.
